Understanding the Credit Model

What costs credits?

  • New Tune (includes 1st revision)30 credits
  • Subsequent Revision1 credit
  • Example: Tune with 15 revisions30 + 14 = 44 credits

Why credits?

Fairness. An off the shelf tuner generally charges significantly less per tune than a remote tuner doing complex builds with dozens of revisions. To ensure a fair cost per tune that matches every tuner's business model, we have a separate credit cost for tunes and revisions.

Scale. The more tunes you manage through Tunebench, the lower your costs get. High-volume shops get cheaper credits (as low as $0.24). We reward your growth with better margins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I exceed my allotted credits?

Any credits used beyond your plan's allowance are charged at the overage rate specified for your tier at the end of your billing cycle. We also have a threshold where you will be billed automatically if you go over a certain dollar amount.

Do unused credits roll over?

No, unused credits do not roll over. Your credit allowance resets at the beginning of each monthly billing cycle.

Can I change my plan at any time?

You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes typically take effect immediately for upgrades, and at the end of your current billing cycle for downgrades.

What is the difference between "tunes" and "revisions"?

A "tune" is a complete project for a customer and vehicle. A "revision" is an iteration of that tune, often based on new datalogs. Revisions are where files are shared between the tuner and customer. The first revision of any tune is included in the initial tune cost.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, plans can be cancelled anytime. However, refunds will not be issued except for our 90 day money back guarantee for new customers. Annual plans have a large discount in exchange for a year-long commitment.

How does the annual billing plan work?

You are charged once a year and receive the full year's quota of credits, SMS messages, etc up front. Any overages are charged at the end of the year unless you exceed the overage threshold. Both the base plan and credit overages are discounted 20%, but other overages like SMS and storage overages are not discounted.

How do you track storage usage?

We track your usage by the hour, known as GB-hours. If a file is deleted, it no longer counts against your storage usage. To find total GB-hours per month, you multiply 30 days X 24 hours X gigabytes allocated.
